Yediyurappa rules out his son competing from Varuna, says he will enter the fray from Shikaripura | Karnataka Election News

BENGALURU: BJP senior leader BS Yediyurappa on Friday ruled out his son POR Vijayendra being sent from Varuna constituency to take on Congress leader Siddaramaiah, saying he would fight in the election from shikaripura.
“There is already pressure to introduce Vijayendra from Varuna, but I said a long time ago, although there is pressure from Varuna, he should compete with Shikaripura. So, there is no doubt that Vijayendra will compete with Varuna for whatever reason,” PTI quoted him as saying. like saying
Yediyurappa added that Vijayendra will be fighting from “my constituency” (Shikaripura in Shivamogga district), so there is no question of asking him to fight from Varuna.
Asked about Vijayendra’s statement that the BJP has its own force and would abide by the party’s decision, Yediyurappa said: “Your statement is correct, but I am saying that you will compete from Shikaripura. Yediyurappa is sitting MLA of Shikaripura and has already announced his retirement from electoral politics.
Assembly elections will be held in Karnataka on May 10.
Yediyurappa had raised expectations of a high-voltage fight between Vijayendra and Siddaramaiah on Thursday by not ruling out the possibility of his son throwing his hat into the ring at Varuna.
Varuna in Mysuru district has become one of the key seats to watch out for as Siddaramaiah, the party leader of the Congress legislature and a former prime minister, is poised to enter the fray in this segment, currently represented by his son Yathindra.
