Chester is a shareholder in the company’s New Orleans office and president of the Government Investigations and Enforcement Group.

He has more than 20 years of experience practicing law in the private sector and in the United States Department of Justice. Prior to joining the firm, Chester worked with the Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney in New Orleans.

He graduated with honors from Tulane University School of Law.

blaine briggs has withdrawn from the Louisiana Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. after 36 years.

Briggs has served as executive vice president and state manager since March 2010. Under his leadership, Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance saw its AM Best rating increase from B+ to A. His experience includes 10 years as a United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, including his tenure as Deputy Chief Criminal Officer.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his law degree from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Dippel served as a law clerk for United States District Judge Jay C. Zainey of the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Evan Scoggs will lead the new Baton Rouge office for read and associates.

Dr Aaron DeWitt has been appointed medical director of Baton Rouge General Mid City Campus.

DeWitt has worked for BRG since 2017 as a hospitalist. He has assumed various leadership roles, including faculty member of BRG’s Internal Medicine Residency Program, medical director of BRG’s skilled nursing unit, and medical director at local assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

He earned a master’s degree in biomedical science from Mississippi College and a medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean. DeWitt completed his internal medicine residency at Baton Rouge General.

Lou Patalano has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.

Patalano succeeds Michele Calandro, who has announced his retirement after more than 30 years with Blue Cross. Calandro will continue to serve as Executive Vice President and Special Advisor to the CEO until her retirement on March 31.

Patalano has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry in a variety of settings, including private practice, payer side, provider side, and for government. Patalano was most recently an attorney in the healthcare practice group at K&L Gates, a fully integrated global law firm that employs nearly 2,000 attorneys on five continents.

He also served as Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Sentara Healthcare and Optima Health, a large Virginia-based integrated delivery network, and Deputy General Counsel and Vice President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
