NEW DELHI: Lounge users may not have a harrowing time at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 (T3), where long lines and a shortage of seats have been a common problem for the past few months due to the overwhelming shortage of VIP rooms. Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) says that it has introduced the “Encalm Privé” business class lounge in T3. “The (new) hall currently spans 22,000 square feet and once it is fully operational, it (will stretch) 30,000 square feet, making it the largest hall in India. With this addition, there will be two separate lounges available to passengers: to calm Private exclusively for business class and first class travelers from partner airlines. (For) credit card users (lounge) at the food court level of T3, International, after the security waiting area”, TICK he said in a statement. He Sm’s source describes the new facility as the largest airport in Asia.
CEO of DIAL video Kumar Jaipuriar said: “DIAL is committed to enhancing the passenger experience at the Delhi airport. With this new lounge, Delhi Airport has significantly improved its lounge capacity and the quality of services and facilities. This world-class lounge facility aims to provide a premium travel experience.” A confrontation had been brewing between the airlines and DIAL over the issue of the lounge at DIAL. Although T3 had several international airline lounges, these were closed during Covid. Once international travel resumed early last year, T3 faced a shortage of lounges as there were only two lounges: the Air India lounge, which struggled to meet its own requirements of the rapidly expanding Tata Group airline for premium passengers. And the Encalm lounge for eligible credit card holders where long lines at peak flight departure times are common.
Now with the new lounge, let’s hope things improve in T3. DIAL says that the new salon in the next few days will have a spa and a gym; sleeping pods and nap rooms; a cigar room, a game area; laundry facilities and express shower. Facilities already available in the new salon include salon bays; bar; multi-cuisine buffet; live food counters; children’s play area, library and business center.
